Lachlan Monaghan

Principal dancer of the Birmingham Royal Ballet Company.

Lachlan was born in Sydney, Australia and trained at McDonald College followed by The Royal Ballet School. On graduation he joined Birmingham Royal Ballet where he worked his way through the company to the position of Principal in 2023.

Lachlan is a huge support to Ballet Malvern, attending shows, giving workshops, assessing students in their exams and classes for our lucky students.

Every year he awards the Monaghan Performance Award to one of our students.

Dame Lucette Aldous

Australian Prima Ballerina.

Born in New Zealand, Lucette trained at The Royal Ballet School on a Royal Academy of Dancing scholarship. She began her career with Ballet Rambert, then went on to perform with London Festival Ballet, The Royal Ballet and finally with The Australian Ballet where she was chosen to star as Kitri in Rudolf Nureyev's Don Quixote filmed ballet.

Following this connection she travelled the world, notably Russia to learn as much as possible about various methods to then pass them on in her teaching.

Rebecca was lucky enough to be trained by Lucette at WAAPA and then further mentored and supported by Lucette in her development of her Saltare syllabus. She was always a the end of the phone and a huge support whilst Rebecca developed her school until she sadly passed away in 2021, but her legacy lives on in all who knew and loved her.
